The Camino

El Camino de Santiago, or The Way of St. James, has existed for over a thousand years. It was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during medieval times, together with Rome and Jerusalem.  The Camino de Santiago can take one of any number of pilgrimage routes throughout Europe to Santiago de Compostela.

Pilgrims intending to walk the “Camino de Santiago” travel from all over the world.  As they make their way, they reflect on their lives and seek answers to questions.

The video below is a trailer for a documentary project by Lydia B. Smith called “Six Ways to Santiago”, and follows six pilgrims while they walk the Camino. It is a great representation of the different reasons why people walk the Camino, their experiences, and the variety of people who do it.
